The German Blue Ram, a selectively bred variant of the Blue Ram, derives from the original wild Ram species.

Rams thrive best in groups of five or more individuals, reflecting their social nature in the wild. Though peaceful towards other tank mates, they engage in hierarchical fights among themselves. Larger groups help diffuse intra-group aggression, promoting overall harmony. They prefer aquariums with sand, gravel, or mixed substrate, ample plants, and driftwood, offering territory for each individual.

As a selectively bred farm-raised species, German Blue Rams readily consume commercially processed flake and pellet foods. Known for their assertive feeding behavior, they eagerly swim to the aquarium glass at mealtime.

Offering a varied diet is crucial to ensure they receive essential vitamins and minerals for a robust immune system. Ideal foods include meaty flakes, mini-pellets, freeze-dried worms, and frozen brine shrimp, offered multiple times daily in amounts consumed within five minutes.
